One function of a REALTOR® is to assist people in purchasing a home. When they represent you, it is incumbent upon them to work for your best interest. They search for homes using all methods available, assist with negotiations and take diligent care of the paperwork.
Buyer Representation
Purchasing a home is usually more difficult than it appears. Having an experienced agent help you with the search, establish market value, advise on financing, do the paperwork, handle the negotiations and make sure all the details are taken care of will ultimately save you time, money and a lot less headaches. The fee for this service is usually paid by the seller at no cost to you.
Agency
REALTORS® have the opportunity to represent either the buyer, or the seller, or both parties providing all information obtained from each remains confidential. Agents may also act as a transactional agent only, whereas they do not
represent either party.
Methods of Search
Include: newspapers, magazines, television, for sale signs and brochure boxes, the internet, for sale by owners, builders, REALTORS®, MLS and private or exclusive listings.
What is MLS?
Multiple Listing Service is an organization developed by real estate agents to disseminate listing information to each other. This allows Realtors® in good standing to access all listings other realtors may want to share.
